THIS WAS A FUN PROMO
A GOLDBACK is a form of currency where the note that you hold in your hand contains the actual gold that gives the currency value. It’s not crypto, and it is not a piece of paper claiming to have gold stored somewhere to back it up. It is physical gold you hold in your hand.
As some of my regulars know, I had a promotion that if a customer wanted part or all of their change from purchasing products from me in the form of GOLDBACKS they could do so. Goldbacks are a form of currency currently deemed legal by four state governments. Utah, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wyoming , with Wyoming actually passing around the idea in the state senate of creating it’s own gold reserve and creating their own state currency to go along with the Federal Reserve notes and the Goldbacks currently being used there.
When I first started offering the option of choosing GOLDBACKS as change, I was passing one GOLDBACK out at a value of $3.77. That was sometime around November 2022. On the last day of the promotion (4/16/23) I was passing them out at a value of $4.09 per GOLDBACK. While that may not seem like a lot, it works out to about a 19% annual rate of return. If you had purchased products from me in November, and wanted your change in the Federal Reserve notes that people are so used to passing around a $10 dollar bill then would still be a $10 dollar bill today.
Update, on 7/9/24 a Goldback was trading at $4.94.
That says something for the value of “real” money versus the “perception of value” that is placed on Federal Reserve notes.
I still accept GOLDBACKS for payment, to see the average of how much a GOLDBACK trades for on any given day go to goldback.com.

Fun Fact. I stop by a few local repair shops every so often trying to get them to carry AMSOIL as an optional upgrade to their standard oil change. Believe me, it’s a tough sell. Not because of the quality, it’s just not as mainstream. AMSOIL is well recognized in the industry as having cutting edge and top quality products. Also most shops don’t stock a lot of parts and supplies, they can get multiple deliveries daily from the local parts stores. So I understand what their reluctance is. NOW FOR THE FUN FACT. I have four shops that either buy AMSOIL from me or are signed up to purchase AMSOIL for the owners personal use! I feel confident that these shops would gladly use AMSOIL, but it’s tough to get the customer to spend a few extra dollars, and they have to compete with the shop down the street on price.

DO YOU WIKI ?
I felt this should be on the “FUN STUFF” page. This is an interesting activity if you are a curious person like me.
A few evenings ago I was looking up some stuff on Wikipedia. I decided I would write down the first ten motor oil brands I could think of and WIKI them. First of all I was surprised how hard it was to think of ten right off the top of my head. With the knowledge that “full Synthetic” is defined by the GOVERMENT and not the A.P.I. or the S.A.E. and can be made from modified petroleum, I put those ten brands in Wikipedia and this is what I found. Six of them were referred to as oil companies. Three of them were referred to as oil companies that also produce synthetic oil for cars. these three also had little red boxes at the top of the page that informed the reader that Wiki felt the info given may be biased because the contributor may have close ties to the company. (Oddly these are the next three oils I would choose if there were no AMSOIL) AMSOIL stood out, in my opinion, for being referred to as a “synthetic lubricants manufacturer”. I always try to look at things from more than one angle. Before you found this website I imagine that many of you never thought to ask “what is PAO oil” or “what does “full synthetic” actually mean? With this site I offer some answers to some questions, but I’m really trying to inspire people to ask the questions they haven’t thought of yet. The answers are not hard to find, getting past some of the marketing hype and knowing which questions to ask can be a little more difficult. HAPPY WIKI-ING
